RICHARD NITSCHKE
PHOTOGRAPHY
ARTIST STATEMENT
"Most, if not all, of my photographs were taken on the property where I live. I photographed most of the subjects on a daily basis over several years under many different light conditions. I am happiest when out photographing on this land I know and revere. "I did some shooting in the days of film but have spent the last several years immersed in the digital world of photography. The immediacy of digital allows me to experiment more than I ever could have with film. It has led me down a path to Abstract Landscape Photography. "I push the limits of light: shooting into the sun, overexposing, underexposing, etc. in order to capture ‘hidden’ compositions. I try to concentrate on only two things when I photograph: Light and Design." — Richard Nitschke ARTIST BIO Richard Nitschke grew up in the Texas Hill Country and lives here today with his beloved companion and photography assistant, Maya––an adventurous yellow Labrador Retriever. In college, he studied Art and Engineering, and after working in the Commercial Construction field for many years, he returned his focus to the arts he studied and loved in his youth. He has worked in ceramics, sculpture, music and writing, but it is photography that has captured his attention. |
