ARTIST STATEMENT
This work, exhibit and the curatorial focus on Shakespeare's Sonnet 98, provided me an opportunity to process through a deeply personal loss. The sonnet speaks pointedly to the feeling of absence and translates visually to an obscuring of beauty, a void, a negative space. Selecting specific flowers from my friend's garden, imagined at the apex of spring, serves as a love letter, a tribute and a mechanism for healing.
