ENCAUSTIC I: Introduction
Instructor: Jeannette MacDougall, Cara Hines, or guest instructor
Prerequisite: No prior experience with encaustic required (knowledge of color and composition is helpful)
You will learn the basics of working in two-dimensional encaustic, including safety precautions, introduction to materials, pigments, resources, and a brief history. Techniques of fusing, creating transparency and opacity, building layers, incising, texture, mark-making, and shellac burns will be taught. Includes all materials, demonstrations, and hands-on experience. Open to artists at all levels, though basic knowledge of color and composition is helpful. Space is limited.
